mid-October already?

Time is rushing by lately. We've filled these glorious fall days with camping, football games, dog parks, pottery and welding classes, driving lessons, canning and concerts. Life is good - life is extremely good! I snapped this at Lake Tomahawk last weekend. The colors knocked my socks off.

We're still about a week away from the vibrant colors & the reason people flock here to enjoy the leafpeeping. I've been taking beginning pottery once a week at our local community college. It's great what skills you can learn at a very cost - 8 weeks for only $89. Around week three, I was discouraged and thought I'd never get "centering" down. You just have to show the clay who's boss! I've made eight pieces so far, so it looks like family & friends will be getting apple butter and pottery for Christmas this year. These babies are ready to fire and glaze.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and many of my friends will be walking 60 miles in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. They'll walk this weekend in Atlanta and next weekend in Tampa. Wish I could be there, wish I could be a "walker stalker" again. I did the 3-Day in 2008 and it was an indescribable experience. So, in honor of those walking and those who cannot...

We walk because we must. We are strong because the journey demands it. Together in body and united in spirit, we lay down our footsteps for this generation and the next. This is our promise: a world without breast cancer.
