2010 Intentions

I've put a great deal of thought into this list of intentions. I really want to avoid repeating last year's goals. I don't want to be even moderately mundane. Sure - I want to exercise more, eat better, be nicer, not cut people off in traffic, etc. I want to dig deeper. I want to be more deliberate about this list and about life. So, here goes...

Purchase purposefully. Buy locally, no "China", no animal-tested products.
If it's not helpful or necessary, don't say it.
Finish what you begin.
Learn to knit.
Reduce sarcasm.
Judge not.
Sweat every day.
Daily meditation.
Read one book per month.

And, perhaps most importantly - be right there. Just sit when sitting, just breathe when breathing and just drive when driving... sounds simple but that is my biggest challenge. I know I'm much happier when I focus on the one thing in front of me. I make less mistakes than when I try to multi task. I know I feel more satisfied when I do one thing really well then move on to the next.

From Lama Surya Das - "by simply being right there, on the spot, you can make your life become workable and wonderful. Awakening to this present instant, we realize the infinite is in the finite of each instant."

And from Emily Dickinson, "Forever is comprised of nows."
